Rod Wave

Born Rodarius Marcell Green, Rod Wave is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. Wave is known for his passionate vocals, honest and introspective lyrics, and a unique blend of hip-hop and R&B. He is recognized as a trailblazer of soul-trap.

Wave grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida, and had a difficult childhood. His parents divorced when he was young, and his father went to jail. Wave turned to the streets to make money and was involved in several illegal activities, finding himself in and out of juvenile centers. He often reflects on his early life experiences in his music, using his lyrics to share his personal struggles and the adversity he faced while growing up.

In 2016, Wave released his first mixtape, Hunger Games Vol. 1. He dropped several more mixtapes over the next few years and began to gain a following for his unique sound.
