Hinder is best known for their hit "Lips Of An Angel," a song about struggling to move on from an ex, from their debut album, Extreme Behavior. The album title aptly describes the band's outlook: They were known for drunken mayhem in the tradition of Mötley Crüe, and their songs reflected that. "Lips Of An Angel" was never pegged as a hit but it got an incredible reaction when they played it live. It was the follow-up to their first single, "Get Stoned," which better represents the band.
Hinder headlined the four-week "Girls Gone Wild Rock America Tour" in early 2006, with the bands Faktion and Revelation Theory also on the bill. This was part of the Girls Gone Wild franchise, a series of videos that show college-age girls at party spots engaging in behavior that would mortify their parents.
Music journalists love to lump Hinder into a category with other bands in the active rock and hard rock genres, such as Nickelback, Theory of a Deadman, and 3 Doors Down. Ironically, the band doesn't mind the comparisons. When Songfacts talked to Hinder drummer Cody Hanson in 2012, he said he's cool with being compared to Nickelback because "they're the biggest band in the world."
