Trivia

Interesting facts about DiE4u. By Songfacts.

Bring Me The Horizon frontman Oli Sykes has a history of addiction; so all-consuming was his dependence, he was willing to "die for" it. During lockdown, Sykes finally faced up to his destructive habits and kicked them out of his life.

"DiE4u" finds Sykes recognizing he's not someone who can drink alcohol or smoke weed in moderation. The vocalist told NME he sees the song accepting his addictions. "I just have a problem with it and it always goes down the same road," he said. "That's not something that I've been able to admit to myself. "This song is a defiant stamp of me saying, 'No, I'm making a choice now. I can't keep doing this for the rest of my life because it's only going to end up one way.'"

During the song, Sykes reflects on his addiction from the perspective of an affair. "You're doing this thing behind everyone's back, it's a secret and it feels like you're cheating and betraying people. I never saw it in that way," he said. "I just thought I was harming myself and not other people. I didn't realize how much it can f--k up people's trust."
