Megan Thee Stallion is a big fan of Japanese culture and has proclaimed her love for anime and manga from the start. On March 2, 2024, she flew to Tokyo to present the Anime of the Year award at the prestigious 8th annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards. While there, she chilled with Yuki Chiba, a heavyweight Japanese rapper, and wouldn't you know it, they ended up recording a song together! The ensuing track, "Mamushi," slithered onto Megan's third eponymous album.
The song is Megan's way of bowing down to all things Japanese pop culture. It's not the first time she's shown her love for Japanophilia either – there's another track on the album called "Otaku Hot Girl," which is a love letter to anime and manga.
