Vocalist Austin Carlile told Kerrang! this is the track on Restoring Force that he is most proud of writing. He explained: "It's one of my favorite songs because it came from such a real place. It was written right there in the studio, and it was all about ourselves and what we were going through. At that point, we felt a bit scared and backed into a corner. It felt like there was so much pressure on us. We wrote the song to try to alleviate those feedings and cut the stress away."
The song's music video was directed by Nathan William and filmed in Los Angeles. "In the studio, 'Feels Like Forever' was the first song we demoed, and ended up being the last song we finished recording," said Austin Carlile. "It fought back. It's a song that everyone in the band has a personal attachment to for various reasons. Bringing it to life visually and in our own backyard of Southern California was a great experience. Sand in my shoes still and all."
