In his autobiography, Adam Ant said the lusty "Desperate But Not Serious" was banned by children's television because of the line "Mr. Pressman with your penknife always asking about my sex life," adding, "Well, that and a vampire kiss in the video." Co-written with his former Adam & the Ants bandmate and songwriting partner Marco Pirroni, it was released in the UK November 19, 1982 on the CBS label backed by "Why Do Girls Love Horses?"

The limited edition picture disc had photos on the front and back by Allan Ballard. The song was also the fourth track on the Friend Or Foe album.
