Tourniquet

This song is about a girl who attempted suicide and is now asking God to forgive her. It brings up the question of whether or not you can enter heaven if you take your own life.

A tourniquet is a device used to stop bleeding, usually by choking off an artery so the blood can't flow out. In the song, God is the tourniquet.

"Tourniquet" is a reworked cover of a 2001 song called "My Tourniquet" by the Christian death metal band Soul Embraced, written by their guitarist, Rocky Gray. Lee wrote the melody and added a second verse. Gray is a credited writer on "Tourniquet" along with Lee and her bandmates at the time, Ben Moody and David Hodges. Rocky Gray toured as the drummer for Evanescence starting in 2003 and is credited as a full member on their 2006 album The Open Door.
