Death From Above is a punk rock duo from Toronto, Canada comprising vocalist and drummer Sebastien Grainger and bassist Jesse F. Keeler. Grainger explained the story behind this song to NME: "It's pretty much a love song I think. It's kind of using the vernacular of today and using the language of today to kind of subvert a love song. It's always difficult for me to describe a straight up love song. Not that I was trying to do that in any way, the song kind of just spilled out. It was written pretty quickly. Jesse sent a voice note over of himself playing the piano part and then I sort of started writing on that and it turned around pretty quickly, which was cool. They're always the most fun songs."
The video was filmed by director Corey Adam in Los Angeles. Sebastien Grainger shared the following comments: "When Corey Adams started talking to us about making this video he said he wanted it to be about how body builders would spend their last day on earth before the nuclear apocalypse. He also mentioned there would be a guy dressed as Rambo playing a machine gun like an electric guitar and a lady body builder pumping iron under water. He had us at hello."
