Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Pale Horses. By Songfacts®.

This is the second single released by New York electronica singer Moby from his ninth studio album, Wait for Me. The track features vocals by Moby's friend, cabaret singer Amelia Zirin Brown. In 2007, she was nominated for an MVPA for the choreography of Moby's video of "New York, New York," which featured Debbie Harry.

According to Moby, Amelia's first take is the one we hear on the record. He told The Wall Street Journal: "She must have sung it five or six times, but the first time she sang it, she'd never heard it before. And that's the version I used because her vocals had a really nice quality of vulnerability to them."

The music video, directed and animated by Elanna Allen, follows Little Idiot, the cartoon character from the album's cover art, a lonely alien who finds companionship by drawing figures that come to life. Along with a dog friend, he draws a train and some tracks that help him travel to the moon, where he makes a crowd of duplicates to dance with. Unfortunately, the rain washes away his creations and he's left alone in the end. Allen got her start with MTV Animation as a character animator for the series Celebrity Deathmatch.
