The ending chorus, "Servatis a periculum, servatis a maleficum," is Latin for "Save yourselves from danger, save yourselves from evil," according to Amy Lee's translations.
Evanescence lead singer Amy Lee (lyrics and melodies) wrote this song with their guitarist, Ben Moody. It appears on their blockbuster debut album, Fallen. The group was an unlikely success story: Female-fronted rock bands from Arkansas weren't exactly trending. Lee and Moody dated for a while, but by the time the album was released, they were at odds, and Moody bolted in 2003 just as they were starting to swell.
