Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Uh Huh. By Songfacts®.

"Uh Huh" was the first single from B2K, a boy band that formed around the turn of the millennium (their name is a play on Y2K). They got a record deal with Epic, which issued the single in the summer of 2001 and sent them on the road as an opening act for Lil' Bow Wow. The four group members were each about 16 years old and still learning the craft. They used this time to refine their act and work on their self-titled debut album, which was released in March 2002. With a music video and a promotional push from Epic, "Uh Huh" helped the album reach #2 and sell over 500,000 copies in America. Not bad, but the boy band trend had faded by this time, so they were pushing against the tide.

The song was produced by C. "Tricky" Stewart, who around this time was also making hits for Mya ("Case Of The Ex (Whatcha Gonna Do)" and Britney Spears ("Me Against The Music"). Stewart really hit his stride a few years later with his work on Rihanna's "Umbrella" and Beyoncé's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)."

Tricky Stewart wrote the song with Malik Crawford, Traci Hale and Tab Nkhereanye. Each verse is sung by a different member of the band, addressing a girl, of course. Each chorus line is punctuated by "uh-huh," which serves as the hook.
