This song was inspired by the landlady of drummer Steve Upton and bass player Martin Turner at a place they lived in Chalk Farm, North London. Her husband came home drunk one night and the couple got in a fight, which resulted in him kicking her out of the house. Two days later she ended up in the hospital.
