Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about There's A Place - Live At The BBC For "Pop Go The Beatles" / 3rd September, 1963. By Songfacts®.

This was one of John Lennon's first attempts to write a song in the style of the Motown girl-groups. In the song, he sings about the places he retreats to in his mind, although without a careful listen the song seems to be about a girl.

The Beatles recorded this on February 11, 1963 with their producer, George Martin. It was a very productive session: they recorded a total of 10 songs, all of which were used on Please Please Me, their UK debut album.

This appeared on the soundtrack for the 1963 TV documentary Beat City, which is a look at the Liverpool music scene that aired on Britain's Associated-Rediffusion network.
