Jordin Sparks said on American Online (AOL) that she decided to record this as the first single from her debut album as soon as she heard it. She disclosed: "As soon as I heard the song, I knew I had to have it. I didn't even get past the first time the chorus played [when] I began to jump up and down and freak out about it. So, I knew that if I had the opportunity to have it on my album, I wanted it to be the first one. It was actually the first song that was pitched to me."
Amanda Ghost co-wrote this poppy tune about ending a romance together with Ian Dench. Ghost also co-wrote James Blunt's "You're Beautiful" and Beyoncé and Shakira's "Beautiful Liar."
