Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Don't Let It Go To Your Head. By Songfacts®.

This song was originally recorded in 2005 by Canadian singer-songwriter Fefe Dobson. It was the lead single from her unreleased second album Sunday Love. Sparks told Billboard magazine that she had the song "on my iPod for the longest time."

Sparks first came across this tune as an eighth-grader in Arizona, and she immediately fell in love with both the song and Dobson's image. She gushed to MTV News: "It was so cool because she looked like me! And I was like, 'Whoa! That's so awesome!' " The American Idol winner continued: "I remember working at my job... folding jeans and hearing that song play every day, like, five times a day. And I was like, 'This song is so awesome!' And that was three years ago! I bought the single and everything!"
When the Battlefield producers began pitching tracks to Sparks, she was excited that Dobson had offered up her song as a potential album cut. "I was like, 'Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? I can sing this song, really? You sure she's not gonna be mad?' It was just really cool to be able to do it."

The song's lyrical content ("So what if I want to kiss/ From your toes up to your lips/ It don't mean that you've had me yet/ You're gonna be good, I bet.") is more adult than anything the committed Christian has recorded before. However Jordin wanted to assure her fans that the song isn't as risqué as it seems. She told MTV News: "There are some things that could be taken the wrong way, but the way I sing them, it doesn't mean that!"
