During his verse, Wave directly interpolates the opening four lines of Ed Sheeran's 2011 breakup song "U.N.I.." I found your headband on my bedroom floor The only evidence that you've been here before I don't get waves of missin' you anymore They're more like tsunami tides in my eyes

Rod Wave wrote "Alone" with the song's producers Will-A-Fool and B-Squared. Ed Sheeran and his "U.N.I." co-writer Jake Gosling also get credited.
