Change was a studio group created by French-Italian businessman Jacques Fred Petrus with the majority of song-writing and production carried out by French producers Mauro Malavasi and Davide Romani. This song was the title track of their debut album.
The song features lead vocals by Luther Vandross who had yet to come to prominence. Vandross' performance on this and another The Glow of Love cut "Searchin" was to be a career breakthrough for the singer. The exposure to mainstream audiences led to a solo career for the one-time backing vocalist.
Janet Jackson's 2001 hit song "All For You" was based on "The Glow of Love." Phats & Small also sampled the tune for their 1999 #2 UK single "Turn Around."
