Brandon Flowers co-wrote this ballad and sings on the track. New Order's connection with Flowers goes back to his naming his band, The Killers, after the fictitious group in the video for their song "Crystal." He subsequently became a good friend of the Manchester act. "When we've been on tours, we bump into them," vocalist Bernard Sumner told NME. "He came onstage with us 10 years ago to do 'Crystal' at T In The Park. I went to his gig a few weeks ago in Manchester, to do 'Bizarre Love Triangle.'"
The song had been knocking around for years, and Sumner just needed someone else's input to finish it, so he called his friend, Brandon Flowers. He told The Sun: "Brandon did the chorus and after a couple of attempts at the verse it clicked. I'm like a bloodhound. If I can smell something in a song. I don't like giving up on it. It's like I'm almost scared of failing."
