This melancholic folk-funk tune closes Big Boi's second solo album, Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors. It finds the Outkast rapper thanking his late grandmother. He told Fader magazine: "My grandma passed, and when I make music, it's a form of mourning for me. I don't make sad music, but I can really express myself because I'm really in touch with my inner feelings."
The song features the vocals of Little Dragon's Yukimi Nagano. It was Dr. Dre who introduced Big Boi to the Swedish Electro-Pop quartet. He explained to Fader magazine: "We were going through some records, MGMT and some old George Benson. I met Little Dragon at Austin City Limits and invited them to the studio. We camped out for seven days and just made music. It was similar to the environment of the old Dungeon where you had OutKast, Goodie Mob and Organized Noize all under one roof and we would just jam out."
The Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors title comes directly from Big Boi's grandma. He explained to The Boombox: "It was going to be the title of my grandmother's book. But she didn't want to put the book out because she said she was going to f--k up everybody in our family household, because she was going to tell all the family secrets."
