This soulful, lush Earth, Wind & Fire track has a lyric written by Philip Bailey, who sings lead, peeling off some of his famous falsetto runs near the end. It sounds like a romantic love song, but it was inspired by news that he was going be a father. The child was a daughter named Pili, whose mom is Jeanette Hutchinson of The Emotions.
The music was written by the group's guitarist, Al McKay, along with an outside member, guitarist Steve Beckmeier. After writing the track, they sent it to Bailey, who added the lyrics. It's one of the few original songs in the band's catalog that group leader Maurice White had no hand in writing.
The strings and horns were arranged by the Brazilian Eumir Deodato.
