The Philly MC, who uses they/them pronouns, embodies the wildness and individuality of rock stars, fusing it with a punk attitude and androgynous fashion. Here, Uzi Vert proclaims their mission statement and issues a threat to anyone who stands in the way of their rocking.
"Just Wanna Rock" pairs Uzi's Auto-Tuned chanting with a Jersey club beat from Yeat collaborator Synthetic and MCVertt, who frequently works with Jersey drill pioneer Bandmanrill. Jersey club is an aggressive style of club music with synthy, high-BPM beats that originated in Newark, New Jersey in the late 2000s.
Uzi has form for recording dance music/hip-hop hybrids. Their 2020 hit "Futsal Shuffle 2020" incorporated a heavy bass and EDM synths.
