Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about We Can Talk - Remastered 2000. By Songfacts®.

The song's nonsensical lyrics (much like Big Pink track "Chest Fever") derive from the way the bandmates spoke to each other through rhymes and puns.

One of the few songs written entirely by Richard Manuel, it captured Manuel's wit and charm. Principal singers Manuel, Levon Helm, and Rick Danko all took turns singing the different verses. The song is thus widely regarded as one of the best examples of The Band's unique vocal finesse.
