Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Rushing. By Songfacts®.

This is the sixth track on Play and the first one not to be released as a single. Moby told Rolling Stone: "Those first five songs - they're OK. None of those first five songs, which all went on to be fairly successful in some country, I think they're all OK. But 'Rushing' is one of my favorite songs on the record. This is why I should never be allowed to be an A&R person. I remember when I was listening to the demos of the album, 'Rushing' was the only song I felt confident about. And I really didn't change it much from the demo to the finished version."

After his career took a hit with his punk-oriented album Animal Rights, Moby was ready to pack up and go home to Connecticut. But he wanted to release one more album first: Play. He figured it would disappear into the ether along with his name, but it became a surprise hit, saving his career and making him an unlikely international star.

This was used in the 2001 UK film Goodbye Charlie Bright.
