Graham Nash wrote this song about his father who served time in Manchester's Strangeways prison for a theft he didn't commit. His dad never fully recovered from the experience. Nash recalled to Mojo in 2016, "Here's something ironic. I'm in Manchester singing 'Prison Song' and the show was taped. I look at the film and who do I see but the judge who sent my father to jail. I really wanted to talk to him."
