Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Is There Something I Should Know?. By Songfacts®.

This song finds Simon Le Bon singing about a girl that is driving him crazy as he feels there is something wrong with their relationship. He tells her she's as easy as a "Nuclear War."

This song was recorded in 1982. It was the only new song on the 1983 United States reissue of the band's self-titled debut album, and it turned to be the most successful from it as well.

Phil Thornalley, who had just come off of producing The Cure's moody Pornography album and its ensuing tour, was brought in to engineer the track. He recalled in a Songfacts interview: "I used to work closely with a producer called Alex Sadkin (Bob Marley, Thompson Twins) when the offer came to remix that record. Duran Duran were super-hot then, they were the biggest band in the world, and I think they'd tried everyone to mix it. It was just another job that came through, and I just happened to be on fire that day and did a really good job. That worked out well so Alex then produced the album that followed, which was called Seven and the Ragged Tiger."
