Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Aerial. By Songfacts®.

The second CD of Kate Bush's Aerial album is a suite subtitled "A Sky of Honey" that is soaked with the sounds of birds singing. It concludes with the title track, which is set at dawn and blends birdsong with Bush's own laughter. Bush explained to Mojo magazine: "I was trying to think, what in our language is in any way comparable to birdsong? I thought about that a lot and the only thing that seemed to have a sort of natural connection is the way we laugh. There is something strangely connected in the shapes."

The album cover seems to show a mountain range at sunset reflected on the sea. It is, in fact, a waveform of a blackbird song superimposed over a glowing photograph, which is a nod to the birdsong on this track.
