Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Change Your Mind. By Songfacts®.

The Horrors originally planned to release Luminous in 2013, but they felt they wanted to expand further on the electronic side of things. That's when this track as well as "In And Out of Sight" were created. Frontman Faris Badwan explained to The Sun: "Both those tracks added something new to the record. It's always good to be hard on yourselves. We just knew there were things we were enjoying hearing which we could make more of and for another eight months, make it twice as good."

Keyboardist Tom Cowan commented to NME regarding this sombre tune: "It's the most spacious piece of music we've ever made. It was very refreshing to do something that wasn't so full-on."

Several of the tunes on Luminous feel like love songs, and this track is possibly the closest The Horrors have ever come to writing a lovestruck ballad. NME asked Badwan if there is a complexity of emotion there? He replied: "To be honest I think, uh, I don't know. I never like to weigh people down with my explanation." "Sometimes I'll write down all the lyrics, and I'll record them with a really insane vocal effect, so I can't really hear what the words are," he continued. "And then a couple of months later I'll play them back and re-transcribe them, and hear how it twists the meaning. I find that really interesting. I think separating them from real life is cool."
