The first song to be released from Catfish and the Bottlemen's third album, "Longshot" finds frontman Van McCann glad that he followed his heart and not his head. Listen, the distance between us, could've took a while Once we closed that difference, you turned up like a friend of mine Every once in a while, the little things make me smile As if one of our longshots paid off Speaking on Radio X, McCann said the song about "taking a chance on something and it's paid of big time."
The song was produced by the Irishman Garret "Jacknife" Lee, who has also worked with Snow Patrol, U2 and R.E.M. This was the first track that Catfish showed the producer.
The black-and-white music video was directed by long-term collaborator Jim Canty and filmed on a cliff-top in South Shields, NE England. The clip presents a bird's-eye view of the band performing the song.
