The Revivalists lead singer Dave Shaw started this song when he was in his 20s. It was a difficult period for him as he was a committed alcoholic and heavy into drugs. "It was kind of a time in my life that was a bit tumultuous, doing a few things that a lot of us do I would say," he explained to Radio.com. "I didn't really ever have the thing that tied the whole feeling together." The band decided to return to the song at a later date and it wasn't until Shaw had entered his 30s that he found its direction. The Revivalists singer had survived his wild 20s and the song grew into a stomping tribute to the friends that helped him through the difficult times. He told ABC Radio: "We kinda stumbled on this idea of, like, 'Well, did you have good people in your life to kinda lift you up and help you out of that period?' And I was like, 'Actually, absolutely, yes.'"
This was the second #1 for The Revivalists on Billboard's Adult Alternative Songs airplay chart, following their breakthrough single "Wish I Knew You."
The song's music video was filmed live at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado during the band's show at the iconic venue on September 13, 2018.
