Sonny Bono was in a literal sense Cher's "Little Man" - he was 5 feet 5 inches tall to Cher's 5-foot-9. The couple was married at the time, and Bono wrote many sentimental love songs like this one for them to sing.
Sonny Bono recorded the track with session musicians in Los Angeles, but put down the vocals in London at EMI Studios (Abbey Road) when he and Cher arrived there for a promotional tour. When they performed the song on the British TV show Ready, Steady, Go!, they used cue cards for the lyrics, since the song was so new.
In 2015, this was used in a commercial for Amazon where a woman is looking to do something special for her miniature horse. She gets on the site and orders a doggie door so the horse can enter and leave at will.
