Did You Know?

Interesting facts and trivia about Star Of Sirius - Remastered 2005. By Songfacts®.

Hackett recorded this song and album while still a member of Genesis, during the band's hiatus following the departure of their original frontman Peter Gabriel. The song was, at least unofficially, the first post-Gabriel Genesis recording, as all of Hackett's remaining bandmates took part in their respective customary roles: Mike Rutherford on bass, Tony Banks on keyboards, and Phil Collins on drums and lead vocals.

Although Genesis had not yet settled upon a new lead vocalist at the time of this recording, Collins' performance here went a long way toward his landing the job. Ironically, it was Collins' mainstream power-pop ambitions for the group that led to Hackett's departure two years later for a full-time solo career.
