This song started off with a beat that X Ambassador band members Casey Harris, Noah Feldshuh and Adam Levin made, then vocalist Sam Harris came up with a hook. Harris explained to Pop Monitor: "I wrote it for a different song, but it wasn't going anywhere and I had that chorus for 'Superpower' which was just not good at all, so I put this on top of it."

But today I'm, I'm gonna superpower It's a bird, it's a plane; Clark Kent, Bruce Wayne I got that, I got that, I got that superpower Harris admitted during a track-by-track commentary: "We were all big superhero fans as kids and I, you know, I'm still one of those guys who goes to see all of the superhero movies and stuff."
