Roasted 2 years ago based on Matthew Curington's long term Spotify stats.
Matthew Curington, the self-proclaimed “Rap Connoisseur,” has somehow managed to curate a Spotify library that sounds like a teenage angst-driven playlist from a middle school talent show. Seriously, buddy, “Melodic Rap”? You know that means “trying to be serious but failing miserably,” right? With an admiration for more variations of Hip Hop than anyone has a right to have, you might as well just change your name to "Matt the Melodist" and call it a day. Your love for emo rap is even more evident; it’s like you put an emotional Band-Aid on your playlist to mask the fact that you’re still recovering from that one time you weren’t invited to a party. Your top artists are a real ‘who’s who’ of people who peaked at age 17. BLP KOSHER, BabyTron, and Lil Tecca? What are you trying to win here? The award for the oldest man trying to cling to youth? At least you have a flair for the obscure; no one else would pick sadeyes and then call it a solid taste. But hey, with such a diversified taste in artists that all seem to rhyme “lit” with “hit,” it’s refreshing to know that you’re single-handedly keeping the meme rap scene alive. Kudos! And can we talk about your most played songs? “Jump Out The Window” by Big Sean? Really? At this point, it sounds like a cry for help, like every time you hit play on that track, a part of your soul jumps out the window and questions why it’s associated with such a questionable Spotify account. With songs like “Dreidel Bop” on repeat, it’s clear you take yourself way too seriously while simultaneously auditioning for your own tragically ironic sitcom. Congratulations, Matthew; you’ve officially reached the pinnacle of Spotify mediocrity, and trust me, this is not the kind of award you’ll want to frame.
