Madonna

It took her a while to get the domain name madonna.com, which was being used as an adult site in 1998 and 1999. An arbitration panel decided this was bad faith and awarded it to Madonna in an early cybersquatting case that set some precedent.

In 1979, she was the drummer for the band The Breakfast Club. It was her boyfriend's band, and he got her in.

Raised Catholic and named after the Virgin Mary, Madonna sometimes came off as mocking the Christian faith and was often denounced by religious leaders. The singer Pat Boone went on this rant in an interview with Goldmine: "She's obviously going on and on giving a total anti-Christ counterpoint to anything religious, which she despises, and anything moral, which she sees no use for. She's talented, no question about that, but there's a moral vacuum and a numbness that to me is horrifying."
