"Keep It Burnin" is a braggadocios cut featuring two verses each by Future and Kanye West. Future's rhymes concern his customary topics of drugs, riches, violence, and women. In his second verse, the hedonistic ATL rapper blames his debauched lifestyle on having been "raised by gangstas, prostitutes and pimps."
The song title comes from Future's closing line in his second verse. Money like sage in my house, keep it burnin' Sage is a small evergreen plant much cultivated as a kitchen and medicinal herb. The practice of burning sage, developed by indigenous peoples, is traditionally used to help clear negative energy.
During his verses, West talks about his Christian faith, brags about his wealth, and reflects on where he came from. A notable line finds him hinting at a run in the 2024 presidential elections while hoping his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, supports him. When I run for '24, I know my spouse better be with me On July 4, 2020, West announced he would run in the 2020 presidential election. He appeared on the ballot in a dozen states and received 66,365 votes in total. Some saw it as a trial run for 2024, when he would put more time, effort and money into running for president.
