In this song, T.I. is trying to convince a girl that she deserves better, and should leave her no-good boyfriend for him. He can't understand why she would stick with this guy when he has so much more to offer.
This uses a sample from the 1991 Crystal Waters song "Gypsy Woman (She's Homeless)." The sample is the keyboard riff from that song slowed down.
The line, "Why you wanna go and do that" was lifted from Q-Tip's line in the 1998 A Tribe Called Quest song, "Find A Way," where he raps, "Now why you wanna go and do that love, huh?" Tip previously used the line when he guested on Janet Jackson's "Got 'Til It's Gone." As a result, all three members of A Tribe Called Quest are credited as writers on "Why You Wanna," along with Towa Tei and Bebel Gilberto, who wrote "Technova (Folknova)," which is sampled on "Find A Way." Additionally, "Gypsy Woman" composers Crystal Waters and Neal Conway, T.I., and producers Kevin "Khao" Cates and J Dilla are all listed as writers, bringing the total to 10.
