Desiigner's follow up single to "Panda," fans first heard a taste of this track as a 46-second a cappella freestyle recorded in honor of XXL's 2016 Freshman Class. The song was officially released to YouTube with production by long-time Kanye West collaborator Mike Dean on July 21, 2016.
Timmy Turner is a character on the 2000s Nickelodeon cartoon series The Fairly OddParents, whose fairy godparents grant him wishes. In the context of this song, Timmy is a metaphor for Desiigner, the clue being the spelling of "Tiimmy" in the title. Designer explained in a video interview with All Def Digital: "Timmy Turner is me. I was referring to myself when I was saying I 'was wishing for a burner.' And when I said 'she f---in' for BET,' I was referring to a girl that, you know, would do anything for the fame. Then I would say in the song that I know that my soul's in the furnace; because if I know that I wish for the burner, and she knows that she would do anything for the fame, you know you go to hell. It's a storyline about little bit about my struggle and the pain I was feeling at the moment."
Desiigner's G.O.O.D. Music boss Kanye West drops a braggadocious verse on the remix, in which he compares himself to Steve Jobs, Muhammad Ali and Walt Disney. I'm the new Steve, mixed with Ali 'Bout to get freed, I'm the new Walt. Yeezy proclaimed in August 2016 at the MTV Video Music Awards: "They tell me, 'Don't compare yourself to Steve Jobs, don't compare yourself to Walt Disney'… My role models are artist merchants. There's less than ten I can name in history. Truman, Ford, Hughes, Disney, Jobs, West."
